On a day when the main focus of attention for UK Citizens was firmly set on the country’s General Election, for a group of kind-hearted employees at McGeoch Technology and Precision Ceramics in Birmingham, the success of their childrens’ charity fundraising initiative provided the perfect diversion.
Every Christmas, the ‘Kids Out’ charity organise a fundraising appeal for which they provide a tree for the office together with tags on which there is a child’s name, age and suggested toy. The tags are then hung on the tree for employees to pick and buy a gift between £5 and £20/£25 in value. Once all the tags have been taken and the gifts gathered together, they are delivered to the nearest collection point to be distributed.
The recipients are children who have escaped domestic violence, being forced to flee their homes quickly and leave all their possessions behind, along with other circumstances.
Through the kindness and goodwill of the McGeoch and Precision Ceramics employees, over 100 presents have been collected and delivered ready to bring a smile to the faces of local children at this Christmas time.
Our photograph shows the wide range of presents collected. Looking on are some of the kind-hearted employees who donated them.
