The Show Goes On – Precision Ceramics at AVS 2017

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, one and a half million homes and businesses were left without power in the Tampa Bay area and local residents talked of nothing else but who had power, who had trees down and the difficulties of finding gas and water.

Precision Ceramics USA was fortunate to have missed the worst of the hurricane at the company’s new manufacturing facility in St Petersburg. Our staff were able to safely return to work after the storm and it was then business as usual.

After returning to Florida herself, having had to leave her own home during the hurricane, Maddy Krasne, Executive VP at PC-USA, commented “We are still expanding our capability to manufacture technical ceramics locally and are very happy to see our customer base expanding throughout the USA. We are very relieved that the hurricane veered to the East at the last minute and so we suffered no damage to our premises”.

As if by coincidence, this year’s AVS International Symposium & Exhibition is being held in Tampa, Florida, and for the sixth year running, Precision Ceramics USA will be exhibiting.

The AVS International Symposium and Exhibition addresses cutting-edge issues associated with materials, processing, and interfaces in the research and manufacturing communities. The week-long Symposium fosters a multidisciplinary environment that cuts across traditional boundaries between disciplines, featuring papers from AVS technical divisions, technology groups, and focus topics on emerging technologies. The equipment exhibition is one of the largest in the world and provides an opportunity to view the latest products and services offered by over 200 participating companies. More than 2,000 scientists and engineers gather from around the world to attend.

As well as attending the symposium, key members of the PC-USA team will be showing  technical ceramic components for vacuum applications including Shapal Hi-M Soft Aluminium Nitride. A new range of in-house manufactured technical ceramics will also be on show including ultra-high-performance alumina and zirconia hipped ceramics under the banner of CeramAlloy, CeramAlox and CeramaZirc.

AVS 2017 is being held at the Tampa Convention Center from 31st October to 2nd November. The Precision Ceramics USA booth number is 331.
